William S. Sawchuk, MD
William S. Sawchuk, M.D. was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy where he graduated summa cum laude. He attended medical school at the University of Michigan where he graduated with distinction. He completed his internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and then went on to complete his dermatology residency at Duke University Medical center in Durham, North Carolina. Subsequently, he completed a three-year fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology with his primary areas of research interest being ras oncogenes and human papilloma virus.
He received the prestigious Edward Fox Award from the American Academy of Dermatology and the Bill Reed Traveling Fellowship from the American College of Physicians for his outstanding research work while at the National Institutes of Health. He has been in a full-time dermatologic practice in Northern Virginia since 1988. He is a member of the Washington, DC Dermatological Society where he served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, Society of Investigative Dermatology, Northern Virginia Medical Society, Virginia Medical Society, Virginia Dermatologic Society, as well as a member of the Dermatology Foundation’s Prestigious Annenberg Circle.
He is married to his wife Maureen and has two daughters, Andrea and Kate.
